Retina Service
The retina is the light-sensitive lining at the back of your eye. When it is damaged, vision is at risk — but early, accurate treatment can preserve and often restore sight.
Our retina clinic combines high-resolution imaging with modern medical and laser therapy. Every patient receives a documented baseline scan so that change over time can be measured, not guessed.
Conditions we treat
Diabetic Retinopathy
Damage to retinal blood vessels from diabetes. Often silent until advanced — annual screening is essential for everyone living with diabetes.
Retinal Vein Occlusion
A blocked retinal vein causing sudden blurring, bleeding and swelling. Prompt treatment protects central vision.
Age-related Macular Degeneration
Deterioration of the macula, the centre of vision. Wet AMD responds well to timely intravitreal therapy.
Macular Hole
A small full-thickness defect at the centre of the macula causing distorted, dim central vision.
Epiretinal Membrane
A fine scar tissue layer on the macula that wrinkles the retina and distorts straight lines.
Retinal Tears
Breaks in the retina, often preceded by new floaters or flashing lights. Laser can prevent progression.
Retinal Detachment
The retina separates from its blood supply — a true emergency. Contact us immediately if a curtain or shadow crosses your vision.
Treatments & investigations
Intravitreal Injections
Anti-VEGF and steroid therapy delivered into the eye under sterile conditions, with topical anaesthesia and minimal discomfort.
Retinal Laser
Targeted laser to seal tears, treat leaking vessels and stabilise proliferative diabetic retinopathy.
OCT Imaging
Micron-resolution cross-sections of the retina that reveal fluid and swelling long before it becomes visible any other way.
Digital Fundus Imaging
Wide, high-resolution retinal photographs for diagnosis, patient education and long-term comparison.
If you live with diabetes, hypertension or sickle cell disease, book a dilated retinal examination at least once a year.
